IT'S RABBIT'S BIRTHDAY by Freya
Kull took one last look at the banquet hall in his castle and nodded his head in
satisfaction. The AlphaHerk Decorating Team had done a fantastic job once again.
Garlands of roses and baby breath twisted with grape vines ran up and down the halls and
across the rafters. The room was lit by hundreds of shimmering candles and the six
fireplaces were burning brightly. The HerkOrchestra had arrived early and stood off
to the side tuning up their equipment, and small round tables, each set with the finest
crystal and china, surrounded a gleaming dance floor.
Kull stuck his head in the kitchen and watched the AlphaHerk CateringCrew put the
finishing touches on a large multi-tiered cake that was decorated with sugared grapes and
sugar rose petals. The AlphaHerk Waiters stood nearby at attention waiting for
inspection. Each was clad only in a little apron and a bow tie. Kallista, who
was in charge of the inspections (she made sure each apron was tied just so and those bow
ties were centered correctly) dragged herself away from her duty and grinned at Kull.
"My Lord...LordyLordy...the amazons are going to enjoy this party" she laughed
as she fanned herself madly.
"As long as one enjoys it...as long as a certain amazon enjoys it" Kull
whispered, a far away look in his eyes.
"Well, she'd be nutz not to!" Kal retorted, but Kull had already turned away.
Kallista happily went back to her job.
Meanwhile in a different part of the castle, Rabbit was helped out of the remains of a
luxurious bubblebath and wrapped in a large terry cloth robe. Hair and makeup were
artfully done by the AlphaHerk Beauty Team. Rabbit was then led into a large
bedchamber. Strewn across an extra large king size bed, were dozens of beautiful
ball gowns. An AlphaServant bowed low to Rabbit and said "My Queenfor a Day, my
King bids you to select your dress from this small selection. It is his hope that
you find something suitable". Rabbit's eyes glazed over as she took in all the
finery. There were gowns in every color. There were gowns in every style.
Some had matching wraps...all had matching shoes. First she picked out a red,
slit down to there, slit up to here, slinky number that hugged every curve of her body.
"Nah" she thought..." this is a Sov dress... not a Kull dress."
She quicky picked up and discarded gowns made from satin and chiffon, gowns of the
colors black and green and gold and blue.
AlphaServant was getting nervous. He hoped LadyRabbit would find a gown or his King
would be very upset...and an upset King was not a happy thing. He began to hold up
discarded gowns and said things like "are you sure?"..."this one is
nice".... "oh...I like this"...."this one goes with your coloring so
well."
Rabbit let out a little gasp. Buried underneath she found the perfect gown. It
was raw silk. Creamy white in color, grecian in style. Twisted gold bands
outlined her breasts and wrapped around her tiny waist. The strappiest gold sandels
slid onto her feet and AphaServant wrapped gold bangles around her arms.
"Perfect" he whispered as he beheld the beauty standing before him.
"My King will be so pleased."
The Banquet Hall was quickly filling up. Everyone had come to celebrate Rabbit's
birthday. AlphaWaiters were working the crowds, carrying trays of drinks and
appetizers. Kull, dressed in his best finery, sat upon his throne, surveying the
crowd. The throne next to him was empty. Suddenly a trumpet sounded and
everyone's eyes turned toward the door. In glided Rabbit, escorted by two
AphaHerkEscorts. Kull rose and purposedly strode across the dance floor to be
a Rabbit's side. He lifted her hand to his lips and gently kissed her hand.
Then with stars dancing in his eyes, he whispered "You look so beautiful my
love". Tucking her hand under the crook of his arm, he led her thru the crowd,
stopping now and then so one of her sisters could wish her Happy Birthday. Up the
platform they climbed and he bowed as she lowered herself onto the throne.
Rabbit sat beside Kull, Queen of the Day, while Amazons and Alphas lined up and presented
her with gifts and wishes. When everyone had had their chance and were sitting back
down eating dinner, Rabbit exclaimed "Oh my... I feel just like a fairy princess...
thank you my King for such a perfect day". Kull felt his heart bursting as he
watched how happy his fair Rabbit was. "There is one more gift for you my
love" he said as he presented her with a black velvet box. Rabbit gasped
again that day when she opened the box and found a beautiful diamond chain necklace
inside.
Kull removed the necklace from the box and kneeling in front of her, clasped it around her
neck, then taking her head in his hands he drew her towards him and properly wished her a
Happy Birthday.
