Kull had invited the SML to visit the new ski resort in his kingdom. Amazons and
Alphas were racing down the slopes at break neck speed. Sov had tackled Freya several
times in the snow, and they had enjoyed one another thoroughly. But she was almost
relieved when Ares had challenged Sov to a ski race.
Several of Sov Biker Babes were present to cheer him on. Freya was cold and exhausted. She
suspected she might be coming down with something. As if to punctuate that thought she
sneezed. HerK and the Amazons would keep Sov in line, if there was a problem. So she
decided she would quietly sneak back to the lodge.
There was only one problem. The mountain was huge and the group had wandered far away from
the lift that had brought them up here. And without Kull as a guide she wasn't quite sure
which path to take.
Suddenly she saw a sign marking one of the paths. "I should have known, Kull would
ensure his guests every need would be met" she remarked to herself. What Freya didn't
know was that the minions of Akivasha were hiding amongst the trees just waiting to create
mischief and mayhem. They
had switched the signs and Freya was heading away from lodge.
Freya felt as if she had trudged 50 miles. She thought she should have reached the
lodge by now. She didn't remember leaving the path the sign had pointed too, however, so
she decided that the best thing to do was keep on going.
She only gone a few steps farther when the wind picked up, and snow and sleet
began pelting her jacket. "Oh dandy", she thought. Perhaps setting off on my own
wasn't the best idea after all. I wish I hadn't taken my skis off the last time Sov
tackled me. They'd have come in handy right now."
Freya looked up at the sky as if to ask for a break. But there wasn't one to be had in the
thick dark clouds. She started to move forward and suddenly she fell. There had been a
sizeable branch
hidden by the snow. Her ankle started to hurt and she knew she couldn't go a step further.
It was all just too much to take.
Freya was having a pleasant dream. She heard logs crackling on the fire, felt the
comforting reassurance of flannel against her skin, and she could swear she smelled hot
chocolate. Perhaps it was a mirage, or did that only happen in the desert?
Slowly she rolled over and opened her eyes. There was a man kneeling in front of the
fireplace tending it with a poker. He was shirtless, dressed only in flannel pajama
bottoms. Freya studied his strong back and the bronzed biceps in his arms. This
haullucination kept getting better and better.
As if sensing her gaze and her question he turned towards her. There was tender loving
concern in his warm blue gaze. Definitely a HerK. Each of the Alphas had their own special
qualities which helped the amazons tell them apart. Freya didn't recognize this one.
He read her thoughts again. I'm BedWarmerHerK. I'm with the Rent-A-HerK crew, Kull hired
several of us to see to the safety and comfort of his guests.
"How thoughtfull of him" Freya replied. "He should have hired one of you
to do the signs too." "Oh he did, but there were some trouble makers about who
switched them. But don't worry they will be dealt with" BedWarmerHerK assured her.
Freya felt very reassured.
"Would you like some hot chocolate?", BedWarmer HerK asked her. I'd love
some" she replied. He turned back to the fire and took off a small pot that had been
warming over it. He carried it to the table and poured the steaming liquid into the
mugs.
Freya sat up in bed as he approached. She scooted over so he could join her. He smiled and
handed her the hot chocolate. Freya gratefully took a sip of the drink. It was delicious.
They sat in silence just enjoying each others company for several moments.
Then when the mugs were empty he took them both and set them on the floor. BedWarmer HerK
leaned toward her and gently wiped the coco mustache from her lips. "Now just relax
and let me take care of you he whispered." Freya wasn't about to argue.
BedWarmer HerK reached over to the stand next to the bed and grabbed a jar. Freya read
the label, it said vapor rub. She prepared herself as he opened it. But the funny thing
was it didn't smell like the stuff at home. It had a pleasent aroma.
Her host began to unabashedly undo the buttons on her pajama top. Then he slowly massaged
her chest with the substance. "It isn't sticky either" was Freya's last thought
about the vapor rub before she gave herself over to the healing magic of his hands.
When he was finished, he sealed the jar and put it back on the stand. Then he crawled
under the old fashioned quilt with Freya. "I'm going to keep you safe and warm for as
long as you want
me to by dear" he whispered. He began crooning to her the sweetest of
lullabyes.
Outside Old Man Winter and Jack Frost did their best to keep things frigid. But Freya
snuggled further down into the blessed tender comfort of BedWarmer HerK's embrace.
The End.
