He ran a hand through his blond curls and took a deep breath. He had a job to do. The blond made sure his sword was at his side, ready for whatever may come his way. He knew that whatever he faced, he could handle it. He was Iolaus, world-renowned monster slayer, hunter, and warrior. a hero.

Iolaus checked his gear one last time. He wanted to make sure he had everything he may need in this rescue mission. The beautiful princess, Katatril, had been captured and imprisoned by the evil Maroso, and it was up to him to save her.

Iolaus easily picked up the trail of Maroso. He carefully stalked his prey, not wanting to alert it to his presence or to endanger the fair Katatril in any way. He followed the trail until he came upon his enemy's stronghold. He peered out of the bushes, his blue eyes memorizing everything. He saw that the beast had secured the damsel in
a tower room.

Katatril stood at the window. Her green eyes begged for help, as she looked outward, praying for rescue.

Iolaus responded softly. "Don't you worry, I'll save you." He sat there patiently, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, but patience was not one of his strong suits and he started fidgeting.

"Waiting for someone?" Maroso roared.

Iolaus grabbed his sword. He stared the evil beast in the eyes as he threw his first blow.

Maroso easily evaded the swing. He responded by attacking with his razor sharp claws. He snarled, showing his fangs as he missed his prey. He redoubled his efforts as he pressed his attack.

Iolaus kept sidestepping the large creature's blows. He would lean in to land a few blows, before jumping back out of the reach of Maroso's claws.

Every miss made the monster angrier and angrier. As his anger grew, his attacks became wilder and unpredictable. But his anger also made him drop his guard, and Iolaus was able to land several thrusts.

With blood dripping from his tough fur covered hide, Maroso launched himself at the blond warrior. Iolaus barely had enough time to do anything more than raise his sword, but that was all it took. The evil creature impaled itself on the hunter's blade.

Iolaus made sure that the beast was dead before heading to free the princess. Katatril embraced him tightly and whispered, "My hero." She leaned in to kiss him on the cheek.

SMACK

"Ow, what did ya do that for?" Iolaus asked as he rubbed his cheek.

"That's for stealing my dolly," Brianna said. "Boys don't play with
dollies."

"I wasn't playing with her. I was rescuing her from the evil Maroso," the blond retorted.

Brianna rolled her hazel eyes. "You are a thief," she declared as she turned and walked away.

"No, I'm not a thief," Iolaus stated. "I'm a hero."

The young girl gave an unladylike snort. "Yeah right. You are just a runty little thief, and you'll never be anything more."

"Am too a hero," he whispered at her retreating back. "Just you wait and see. I'll show you. I'll show everyone."

The End
